I am thinking of buying a Clarion deck. Its the top of the line regular cd player. 4 volt 6 chanelle outputs with iPod control and bluetooth and mps and sub control and all that. I lost the book and cant remember the exact name of it.

But I was just wondering if these decks are half decent? It will come all out to around $300 just for the head unit. Is that too much?

Off-Topic Quesitons:
Also I just bought a new amp and in the book it says it to use minimum 4 gauge wire? I have 6 gauge wire already ran would this work as well? Its just power and ground so why would I need 4 gauge?


Also to hook a sub with DVC in series I hok the positive and negative terminals together and then run the positive from one side of terminals to the amp and then the negative from the other terminal to the amp to run it in series correct?

Series circuit. Connect voice coil 1's positive wire to voice coil 2's negative wire. This leaves the - terminal on voice coil 1 as the - input from the amp and the + terminal on voice coil 2 as the + input from the amp.

If the wire run is 16 feet + and you plan on running this new amp to it's full capability, run a 4 gauge wire. If your amp is struggling to get power, how is it supposed to make it?

Clarion, personally I have never been a fan of, even when I had to sell it. You have a bluetooth law in Ontario, consider a deck that has bluetooth onboard as well. I have a clearout on the Eclipse CD5030 right now that is a rock solid headunit that is built for system expansion.

I am having a lot of trouble finding the head unit I want. The clarion does come with blue tooth. Altho I raerly use my cell phone. What is the Eclipse Status? The only thing is if I buy from you even if you have a waurentee its not any good I will have to send it back to you. Plus extra for shipping. But you should pm me the info and costs. I am looking for a deck obviously under $300.

Also I guess I was wrong and ment to say parell. Sorry for bad spelling. But if I run in parell then my ohms would drop correct? And to do that I would hook up the positive to the positive and the negative to the negative terminals and then run them to the amp? Like one positive to the amp and then the negative from the opposite terminal to the amp?

Parallel you will connect voice coil 1 + to voice coil 2 + and then to the amp +. Then connect voice coil 1 - to voice coil 2 - and then to the amp -. This will give you a 2 ohm load if it is a dual 4 ohm sub. The Eclipse has full warranty and is serviced in Scarborough Ontario for all Canadian dealers. You must have a copy of your receipt. Get yourself a good cd player, it will make or break the balance of the system that comes after it. The Eclipse is on clearout right now, sadly though it is not going to hit your budget including gst and shipping. There is a throw in with the audio grade ipod cable right now with purchase of this headunit. Under this price range, I still have a last years model Kenwood KDC742BT to move on out the door as well.

Depends what deck your going with, I would recommend the max685bt or VX709 personally...

clarion decks are no good. a friend has one, and for whatever reason he can't get into an eq settings, hell I can't. I told him not to get it but he didn't listen, now he complains

lol, ok buddy, your friend is too retarded to get into eq settings, and that makes Clarion decks 'no good' lol... threads should have an IQ requirement before people like this post anything.

agreed! post #2 for you has you showing disrespect and putting yourself on a pedestal... why not tell him how to perform the EQ rather than point and laugh?... unless the deck is malfunctioning or you dont know either... so lets check the ego and move forward shall we, I suspect you are quite knowledgeable so please share

yeah Oranges, the deck I think is defective. supposed to be that you push the sound button to enter the eq controls, but every time I've tried it hasn't worked. who knows maybe you're supposed to hold it down, but I've tried for ten seconds and it doesn't work. or maybe I'm not pushing the button hard enough. either way, Clarion decks are crap.

yah was never a fan of clarion decks, unless it's a stolen one. even then it was a favour to the person who it was stolen from.
