First system build question

I recently finally got around to purchasing my system and what I have is.
Alpine MRD-1000 V12 Mono
Alpine iDA-X200 (installed already)
Monster Cables 4-Gauge Wiring Kit
JL W6V2 12" (Dual 4 Ohm) w/ HO Box
1 Farad Capacitor

Unfortunately I am not too knowledgeable on car audio so, I am wondering if that sub can be powered by that amp and not blow it. I found out the amp can do 500 watts @ 4 ohms x1 / 1000 watts @ 2 ohms x1.. I have been told that I will blow the W6V2 if it got all 1000 watts.. so would I be having to buy a new amplifier or can I wire it to run the 500 watts?

Sorry for looking like a noob heh, thanks for any help.

If I left anything unanswered here are the links:

Cheers.

What you can do is rewire the sub in a series circuit. This will drop the amps output down to a far safer level for this sub. Down the road a different dvc 4 ohm sub or a pair of svc 4 ohm or dvc 2 ohm subs would be a better match to this amp. This is definitely too much power for this sub.

This amp would be a far better match for that sub. You'd wire the voice coils for a final 2 ohm load, and get 500W from the M500.

Even if you were to grab a 2nd W6 woofer, with that voice coil configuration, you're fudged.

You'll need to either replace the amp or the woofer, your choice.

Thanks for replys, so there is no way I can run that amp to the sub giving it the 500 watts? Somebody gave me the amp for 30$ a while ago.. so I took up the offer. I'd rather not buy a new one, but if I HAVE too I will.

Nopers. Get a different sub if you must.

Just set your gains appropriately. Al my sound systems have the power to melt every speaker in my car. If you just set it up right and don't try to overdrive your sub, you should be perfectly fine. 95% of the time a blown speaker is caused by the nut between the seat and steering wheel.
