HELP HELP HELP..... amperage question...i dont want to kill my car, what should i do?
 

hey everyone, please help....

im in kind of a pickle right now, i got 3 15'' MTX T7515-04's and they are each individually powered by thier own MTX TC4002 2 Channel Amplifier, I have an extra battery that i got from an RV for an extra boost so its not killing my car battery, now i am gonna be shoving all of that into a 2001 chrysler sebring coupe, so i have no idea what i should get for an alternator, like amperage wise...... as this car is gonna be my daily driver and i dont want it to die on me cause of this system...... so if someone out there could please help me i would greatly appreciate it,

.....i would also like to possibly add another MTX T7515-04 Subwoofer and another MTX TC4002 2 Channel Amplifier, so what would i need to get then??

Dude, thats painful. 3 amps will rape amperage wise, let alone 4. Why don't you just sell them all, buy a huge amp and actually get money back. Assuming they are all dual 4 ohm, you need x watts @ 2 or 1/2 ohm. What kind of batteries? The stock alternator will be fine...

You better do the big 3, do minimum of 0awg, i'd suggest even 2 runs of 0awg. I'd suggest going for a HO alt, DIY if you can. What type of battery do you have inside and the RV one?

the battery is huge, its a new Energizer max, 1000 cranking amps, 875 cold cranking amp battery, that should hopefully help with the system.... and its just a standard car battery, a 12volt for the one that runs all the regular electrical stuff in the car...

and to respond to FusionMadsen's comment, i perfer to have each sub individually powered, the amps match the subs up perfectly in every single way, plus i think it would lust look cooler on a sweet SPL install havin 4 amps and 4 subs.... but thats just me though....

These subs are 15's are they not? If so, how on earth do you plan on getting enough airspace for boxes for 2 of them, let alone 3 or 4 into the trunk of that car PROPERLY. More sometimes is not better. I second the selling of the 3 amps and buying one proper one, way better idea, way better use of available power, less space used, less wiring used, less tunability issues....

Plus, having 3 or 4 amps in a "sick SPL setup" in a car makes you look like you have down syndrome.

i probably wont even put it into an spl setup anyway, cause theres no goddamn way that i would even do any good at a competition or anything, its just that this system is probably the biggest in my town, and i just wanted to know how to make it that much better by addin another 15'' sub to it, and that since i have the huge rv battery, and a 0 gauge wirin kit, i just wanted to know if i needed a HO alternator, which i think i probably do, but i just dont know what size since i want to do other to the car too, like underglow....etc, so should i get a bigger amperage alternator then i need for the system to run like underglow?? or what.... i have no idea.....

Sorry my friend but when given sound advice it IS OK to listen, even if it is not what 'you want'

The goal is to have a system that is serious, looks bad arse, and hits hard while not screwing up your daily driver. It has been suggested to do the 'big 3', it is a good suggestion

1. Simplify as much as you can (how many amplifiers do you need... the more efficient the system the smaller the power draw). I would recommend no more than 2 subs in a trunk car.
2. What size air space is required for your 3 MTX 15's... now add another and you will be fresh out of trunk space especially if you have 4 amps, with big beefy wire going to each and dont forget speaker wire that will add to the rats nest too

basically simplify and stay about as loud (trunk car) or put in a wall and loose your back seat (might be louder but certainly more impressive). The upgraded alternator is a decent idea but not terribly inexpensive.

I put a larger alternator in my car for the system in my sig, so I would have to say yes get a bigger alternator and do the big 3, my alt is 200 A, that should be big enough for your setup
and you would win comps with a system like that for sure or at least not come in last place
