help with subs and amp

I have a 2002 Honda crv and I just got some subs and a amp for it, im running a hifonics 2400 watt amp and 2 rocksford fosgate 12inch subs,tod212 I just have the stock electrical system in my car but for the wiring to the amp its 4guage rocksford fosgate wire, and a 2 farad capacitor. the subs that I have, have swift terminals and there 2ohm subs when I wired them I just switched the fuse on the side of the sub to 1ohm and wired it positive to positive and negative to negative and did the same with the other sub to the other side of the box I also grounded the amp and capacitor to a steal tie down place in the back of the car I bolted it to it but for some reason the amp will constantly go into protect mode after a minute I don't know if I just didn't wire the subs rite or I just have a bad ground also I have a attrend dual slammer box

if you have dual 2 ohm subs you can only wire the pair at either 2 ohm or .5 , if your trying to run your system at .5 then that would cause your amp to protect , another thing could be that your voltage drop is just to bad if your running a stock battery under the hood , you might just have voltage issues , my suggestion would be to do the big 3 under the hood , that will alow you to charge your stereo better , and will alow you to keep better voltage , more then likely this is a voltage issue

I actually forgot to mention that I do have a optima yellow top battery under the hood I just don't have the big three upgrade done yet but how would I have wired my subs to .5 ohms and how do I wire my subs to 2ohms if the subs only have one positive and one negative terminal on each subwoofer

your going to want to do the big 3 thats a big step in car audio , im not there I havnt seen your wiring so really I cant say how you have it set up , you need a multimeter to test your impedance , and voltage

click the link attached it will show you how to wire 2 dual 2 ohm subs , also shows what .5 ohm looks like from a wiring stand point , more then likely this is a voltage issue

also Im thinking about getting a better box for the two subs, what is a good subwoofer box, or is it better to just have a car audio place make me one

depending on budget a nice ported box would be ideal , in my oppinion a pre fab will give you a good result tho for probably less then 100 bucks , if you go to a shop they will probably charge you 400 or more for a box , a design can be had off the internet , and supplies would be 150 or so if you wanted to take on a project
