How Much Potential Power Do I have?
 

I admit it. I am not the brightest bulb on the tree so I have a question for you.

I have 3 amps and I have seen a bunch of different specs on their power output. I just want to know, for bragging rights, what is the maximum potential power/watt output for this set-up. When I do brag I want it to be accurate. and ...if I have no right to brag, then I will know to keep my mouth shut.

I know this stuff is Old School but it has been boxed and unused until I had it installed. Got a great deal....freeeeeeee. I worked for a MAJOR isp who was building a show car, the project stopped and the equipment was shelved until I found it and asked if they minded if gave it a home. They said to go for it.

There is no shame in old skool gear, some ppl are into that... plus any way you look at it those are still nice amps and other then maybe cosmetics probably arn't much different then any compairable 2007 MTX products...

Anyway, carsound showed the class D amp doing close to 900watts into a 2ohm resistive load with 14v... for the other amps just go by rated power into the loads you are running...

Soooo...

on the 4300 on a 14.4 Volt DC I get 280Watts x 2 Bridged = 560 Watts?

on the 2150 on a 14.4 I get 475Watts

On the 1500D on a 14.4 I get 900+ ... I saw someone/somewhere say this 1500d can push 1000 watts per speaker so is that 2,000 watts

With my convoluted math that would be 3,035 watts of power. :smilie_da

or if the x2 bridged is only = to 280 watts + 475w on the 2150 + 900 on the 1500D that = 1,655 watts. :stroke:

My confusion comes because it seems there are a number of ways to calculate total watts. I know in the big scheme of things watts are only part of the equation but you can either say you are pushing 3,000+ watts of power or you are pushing 1,655 watts of power. huge difference and I want to be correct when I say I am pushing XXXX watts of power to my subs, mids, and tweets.

i only every quote RMS wattage to people (no one really cares though..lol) which is usually rated at 12v not the 14.4v iirc (aka the lower number)
for instance
i'm running a kicker 650.4 at 4ohms for all channels so i'm running about 325w to my front stage RMS and my 1200.1 @2ohm which is 600w RMS to my sub
so my total system is just a hair under 1000w RMS (12v)
peak power would be double that usually based on how most companies rate their gear.

Sounds like 300+300+500 so 1100watts.
Thats the max you can get. Less if you don't bridge them.

Bottom line it depends on how your speakers are wired.

If your going to brag you cant brag more then advertised RMS. Although those amps were underated.

I run 6 amps that have 760 Watts machined into the surface of the case.

Does that mean I can brag about 4560 watts?

The way i have it wired, rms comes to 2020. But i couldn't get near that with the gain turned down on thew rear speakers it won't get full power on the rears until after the tweeters, front and subs have melted and burned....

When people ask (rarely), I start telling them about how much power on each speaker and their eyes glaze over.

Its loud to regular folks, but no where near what the spl guys run.

Tom you're running Pioneers I think I remember you saying. If that's the case, you're nowhere near that in RMS. At most I would say a third of that.

Sorry, just trying to enlighten a little.

Personally i love to tell ppl what my rms at 12 volts is that way when they hear it they are wondering why the system with double the power isnt as loud and then how mad they get hahaha
