I need to know if what is happening is normal

I installed my amp to work on 2 ohms bridged. The amp seems to heat up on every setting i place it on is this normal for an amp? or does it mean theres something wrong with it? Is there anything i can do to counter this effect?

No need to double post. Theres not alot of people on this time of night.

is it heating up on low volumes, or are u making it work wen it heats up?

Hardwrkr 08-03-2007 08:08 PM

What amp is it and what speakers is it connected to? Where is it located in your vehicle?

I think you may have the amp bridged at an unstable load. There are very few amps that can be bridged and be stable at two ohm mono. Two ohm stereo is much more common. But just for confirmation, list the amp make and model...

The amp make and model is

Pyle amp model PLA2840
# 2000 Watts x 2 Output
# 4000 Watts x 1 Bridged Output
# Variable Hi/Lo Electronic Crossover Network
# Variable Input Level (Gain) Control
# Variable Bass Boost
# Thermal / Overload / Short Circuit Protection
# MOSFET PWM Power Supply
# Power & Protection LED Indicators
# High & Low Level Inputs
# Gold Plated RCA Inputs
# Remote Bass Boost
# Remote Turn On/Off
# Soft Turn-On Circuit
# Protection Circuitry
# High Level MOLEX Inputs
# Anti-Thump Turn-On
# S/N Ratio: 95dB
# T.H.D: < 0.04%
# Frequency Response: 15Hz- 30kHz

Your answer was in your manual all the time.

READ IT!!

stereo 2-4 ohm
bridged 4-8 ohm

Do i need to answer in both your posts asking the question? Is there anything else you'd like us to look up that you can find yourself?

Hardwrkr 08-04-2007 10:51 PM

Your amp is getting hot because it is at a lower load than it's happy with. $ohms bridged is the lowest it will like. If you can rewire your sub/subs to a 8ohm bridged load try it.

Looks like I called this one awhile ago. This is happening not only because of the real world misapplication, but also because you did not listen. Here is a link to the thread in case you do not remember.

Ya, as above, your running it too low. As a side note, have you checked your "Big 3" - do a search on here.. If you need help go see a good 12V dealer in your area, if memory serves Peel auto radio and 20hz are near you.
