Jensen Head Unit
 

Hey guys, brand new here and I did a search for anything related to my question on here, and Google and got basically nil. So, I'm presenting it to you, the community, as my first ever post here, here it goes.

I have a 2004 Impala LS, with factory Bose amp (and all the associated installation headaches). Well, after a full year of buying piece by piece (amongst fixing other things on the car O.o) I have finally "completed" my sound system install. I have replaced the door and rear deck speakers with SSL's, installed and wired my dual 12" custom sub enclosure and last night I finally got to install my head unit. Well, I should say, "a head unit". When I was all set to install my SSL head unit (I know, I know), the GM required integration adapters don't work with it, yatta yatta yatta. So, I got aggravated and pulled a unit someone gave me for another car as a replacement. It's a Jensen VX3020, not a bad looking unit, not really a fan of Jensen, but any port in a storm right? So, I wire everything all together like it should be, make it pretty break somethings installing it and I hit my first question.

Is there a way to get rid of the parking brake on for DVD playback requirement? I've read a few similar articles about Pioneer 4200 series units, being able to use a standard 12v relay to fix this issue, but I'd really rather know for sure if this could fix the DVD issue before I go splicing and what not.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me. I'm planning on calling Jensen tech support later about another issue, so I might ask them, but I'm sure they'll give me the legally required run around on how that's "dangerous".

A relay should do it fine but you might be able to get away with just grounding the park brake wire. Easiest way to test this is to pull the unit out, ground the pink wire, and fire it up to see if it works. If not, then it may need to be grounded after it's turned on, in which case we use a relay the same way as the Pioneer.
