Modding amp, 5th sub channel to full range?

The amp is a Soundstream 5.830 - 4x75 and 1x270 @ 4 ohms

If you look at the picture of the outside of the amp, you'll see the 5th channel(sub) filter is only for 50-250 hz.

Is there any relatively easy mod that I could do to make the 5th channel full range and stereo (ie.5.1 center channel)??

I took the four screws out from that small top board to gain access under it and get pics of the crossover connections etc., but it wouldn't move even 1/8" with gentle moving. so I didn't push it.

Probably can't tell anything from the pics of amp guts , but I'd would mind some opinions.

I have another amp I could use for the 5.1 full range channel, so it's not something that I feel needs to be done, I simply would like to learn what it takes to tinker with electronics more.

1st pic is the "power" end....2nd is the rcas/crossover end

Easy? Probably not. You would have to trace out the schematic of the filter which would take a while if you haven't done that kind of thing before. Then you would have to carefully cut copper tracks and solder small wires in place. It's something I encourage if you're patient. I've done it many times and in fact once completely re-engineered an eq/crossover to bend it to my purpose (I'm a total nerd). It's very rewarding in more ways than one. You get the finished product and you get the experience and courage to try bigger projects. I'd help out if you were near Ottawa.

Is the sub amp a class-D type? Those photos are not much help unfortunately.

All 5 channels are class A/B Kev.
I think I may have the patience to tackle this, like you mentioned, it would feel very rewarding.
Unfortunately I'm far from Ottawa, but I'd be happy to accept more advice

So essentially I will need to find and remove the low pass filter and its copper leads.?
That should leave me with a full range channel with no connection?
Then use small wires to reconnect the speaker end to the power end?

1st step is the schematic though I guess?
I'll try to do a search today.
Thanks bro, I'll be looking for help later into the project I'm sure...
Have any recommened reading?

Figured out how to get it apart... end caps..
I've had 0 luck with finding a schematic.

But.. here's a couple pics of the filter board.

1- top right yellow block - comes from the filter adjustment labeled 220 ??
2- furth along the board
3- other side of board, the bottom right corner has two "blocks" of 6. The filter 6 is on the right

Ideas?
Can take lots more pics if anyone needs to point something out

Nice, now we're getting somewhere. Need some pics with better quality though. PM me if you want my email to send higher res ones. I've made schematics from boards before and this one doesn't look that hard. If you draw it out in basic form using blocks to show the chips, I'll take your drawing and sub-in the guts of the chips. Then I'll show you on the photos where to cut and solder.

On second thought a full-blown schematic may not be necessary. Just send me some high res photos and I'll have a look at em. I will probably ask you to make a few measurements and then I should be able to indicate where to cut and solder. Hopefully it will be simple since we're only bypassing and not modifying the filter section.

I was just reading the manual for this amp. What happens if you turn the "SUB" switch off? Does it kill the 5th channel or make it full range?

a few more..

The first 6 pics in the 2 posts are of the "top" board, the last 2 are of the bottom board and the on/off switch location

I'm having a hard time getting "good" pics, let me know where the important parts are and I'll spend some time getting better pics to email you.
Thanks bro
