I got a kicker zx650.4
I got the amp with blown fets(power supply).
I ordered all new ones and put them into the board.
When testing the amp as soon as i give it power it goes into protection.
However the first time i left it in protection it blew fets. So i removed them all, tested them individualy and there were 3 faulty ones. So i put 10 working ones in again and turned the amp on. This time it cooked a few of them without the amp even going into protection.
I checked diods, and resistors on the power supply side and they seem to be fine.
Anyone have any ideas? maybe something i'm missing?

generally fets blow due to a low impedance

Impedence from what? I don't have speaker or deck hooked up just powering on amp

fair enough I didnt know if you had speakers hooked up or what just sounds like its time to buy a new amp

i got this one for free...
So i'd like to get it going since its a power house...
amp use to work fine then buddy blew it and gave it to me...

just sounds like theres somthing shorting out is the amp mounted on metal ?

the amp is mounted to the casing when im testing it...
i made sure that all the feet were cut short... and i tested all the fets and they all read the same...

I think 604 in abbotsford would be your closest kicker dealer wouldnt hurt taking it there to see if they have any suggestions

Ya i know of them...
I actually just found a VERY good read about the same amp.... and what they said is that output fets were messed and they were killing the PS fets... sooo gonna have to solder them out and check them all individually.
