To each there own though man. I personally love having rear speakers. And love how they give the "surrounding" sound.
I don't live life only listening whats ahead, why would I listen to music that way.

Im not trying to influence the OP to ditch his rears but I can tell you why I ditched mine.
It ruins the frontstage. If the speakers in the rear are inferior quality or even a different size (6x9) than the fronts, you may hear a different "flavour" blended in with he frontstage speakers which may make it sound worse.

Totally a personal taste thing, I personally don't like the front only systems, particularly in larger vehicles. If it's a del sol, or a miata, front only would be fine. If you have passengers regularly...you better have rear speakers or they'll call you names, and tell everyone your system sucks!!!

as far as your set up goes, polk has always been and still is a very good brand with excellent performance. I like kenwood amps, and I think they are a best buy on a price/performance basis. If you have the space available, then a 2 ch amp per pair of speakers is a good way to go as you can control the power to the pairs better than if you go with a 4 ch of equal power. For the rears I would suggest a 2x100 kenwood or similar, and then look into a sub/amp set up to round it out...if additional bass is desired.

Exactly. I agree 100% with you.
I fade it to the front most of the time. But when people are in the back, they want to hear it scream. And with me having the speakers in the door (camaro) they wouldn't be able to hear anything except the sub pounding the back of there heads.
