New guy here with an alternator question.

Hi all, new guy here with a quick question. I drive a 98 Toyota Camry with a stock electrical system. I run a Rockford Fosgate t1 15 (1000watts rms) being pushed by a Lanzar Vibe 242 amp. I want to upgrade to a better amp, what size alternator would I need? I don't have any dimming headlights but better safe then sorry. Thanks for the help.

Before getting into looking at an alternator upgrade, do the "Big 3" first. Google "Car Audio big 3" and there is a clip on U Tube talking about it.

Thanks for the input. I plan on doing the Big 3 upgrade. How much would a shop charge to install it? I live in a condo and don't have access to tools.

What I would suggest is pick up the phone and phone around to some car audio shops in your area, inquire to them and see where it goes. See how informative they are on the topic, that is the key here, if you are going to get a shop to do this. I'm not bashing anyone here some shops will just take your money.

I live in Portland OR. I called a shop close to our house and he told me to go with a bigger battery over doing the big 3.

thats crazy! the big three helps your charging system and is very cheap to do. it makes no sense to skip past it. now if you said to do both that would greatly help your electrical .

The big 3 is one of the best things to do to a vehicle.
