Hi there, I recently got my first car and I want it to sound loud.

I have a few questions about my set up and if I'm doing things right.

1. I have a Rockford Fosgate PUNCH P325.1 pushing a 10" JBL Woofer, is that ok?

2. I have a Sony Xplod CDX-GT410U Deck. It says "4x52w" what does that mean?

3. On my Amp, their are "cross overs". I think its so I don't need to run another set of RCA's. What I don't understand why their isn't another AMP REM (Blue/white stripe) cable. Do I need another one? Their is only 1 in the back of my deck... But their is a Orange/white stripe, whats that for?

4. If I want 2 Amps in my car, in what order should they be in? The "Class D" OR the Multy Channel Amp first? Also, what setting should I put my deck on? Amp OUT or SUB out?

5. What size of power cable should I be using? I ran a 4 guage cable to play it safe. Is that over kill? Should I run another cable when i get another amp or somehow devide it into two, one for each amp?

6. If I have a Multy Channel Amp thats more powerfull then the 4 speakers my deck is puhing, theit useless right? I mean, you will only here the louder amp'ed up speakers and not the other ones. How can I even things out?

#1 that is perfectly fine.

#2 4x52w means the built in amp it has is 4 times 52 watts maximum.

#3 The crossovers on your amp are there for you too control certain frequencies that you dont want your speakers to play, so if your sub only plays in a frequency of "lets say" 28hertz - 100hertz, but your amp plays frequencies of 20hertz - 100hertz, under 28 can damage your speaker... so you set your crossover to 28 hertz or above so it dosent reproduce those bad for speaker frequencies. The orange is an illumination wire... so it runs a little power to run little l.e.d.s in your amp or accessory lights. also a dimmer switch.

#4 If you want 2 amps get a distrobution block and put your positive cable from your battery to it then out 2 positives one to each amp then ground each amp seperately, and if your deck has a SUB and AMP preout you can seprate them but that means more rca cable and more money, so you can just use a Y splitter RCA on the end of your existing rca to go from 2 to 4 and then you have enough RCA inputs for 2 amps.

#5 Four gauge is plenty and you shouldnt have to change it, unless you go out and get a much bigger amp, but there are other things you can do. So like i said in #4 use a distro block and put your four gauge by your amp in one end and then put four gauge out from it to your amps in, and if you get a smaller amp you can also put smaller wire through another ouput of the distrobution block.

#6 You need to turn down the output power of your amp powered speakers on each channel/speaker to best match your speakers or get another amp for the remainder speakers, or see if the speakers running off the deck can be bridged/wired with the others to run all of them off your 4 channel amp.

Thanks you very much for answering my questions. But I asked one of them wrong... Ok, here it goes.

On my Amp, is a "Pass-Thru" for my RCA's cables. What I don't understand why their isn't another AMP REM (Blue/white stripe) cable. Do I need another one? Their is only 1 in the back of my deck...

So I just hook up that AMP REM wire to a different distribution block? Is that how it works? Each AMP needs one of these cables right?

Now I understand how to use the distribution block in my favor.

I drew a picture so that you guys can help me a little more:


What does BUS mean? The diagram I'm looking at says it goes to a CD changer? Why would I want one of those if my deck plays CD's? Is this what you mean by seperating the Sub and Rear Out?How should I use this to what I want to do?

The loop thrus on that amp are there in case your HU only has one set of RCA outputs, or if you're using a multi amp system.

If your deck has front, rear and sub outputs, you should use them. That will give you level control for your subs.
If you only have a cheapy deck with only one set of RCA's then you need to loop thru the amps RCA to get signal to the second amp.

For remote, all you do is run to the first amp and a short jumper to the second amp. Once you go for more than 2 amps, you should use a relay.

And since you asked, I would give up on using deck power. All that does is make your deck hot. The 4x52 is Max (unrealistic). Its really only 16 watts RMS. Use a good amp with 50 to 150 wrms for front speakers, you can go with less power or deck power for rear fill. Sharing deck power and amp power isn't usually a good idea as it's impossible to get them in phase.

So your saying I should not use the 4 channels in the back of my deck and insted only use AMP's? What should I do with the wires that are connected to the deck, conect them to themselves or just let them loose.

You say I have a cheap deck but I payed 200$ for it! Does this mean I should buy a better deck? OMG his sucks if I need to.

The AMP OUT and SUB OUT is controled digitaly, how do I get them both to work at the same time?

No, I said to use All the RCA's from your deck.
Some decks that only have front/rear outs can switch the rear outs to Sub out.
