Oops I did it again.

I'm an idiot. new theme.
this time I was installing a old deck for my parents because their faceplate off the kenwood got stolen and I couldn't find one online..
so I was installing my old alpine cda-9827
anyways, I was about to start taking all the wires out when I saw the the inputs into the decks were the same so I figured I'd try and see if it would just work.. so I plugged it in turned the car power on.. and the deck started smoking.. so that sucked..
so I switched all the wires around and plugged the alpine in the way I should have from the start and it doesn't work anymore.
the biggest problem I saw is the Power and the ground are in opposite spots on both deck inputs.
so, what happend to me deck? and is it repairable? can that ruin a deck?
thanks.

yeah you let the smoke out!

open it up and see what you cooked.

I still have an Alpine 7559 for sale, maybe the wireing harness is the same as the deck you just fried?

So in the end I purchased a premier deh-p7800mp that I found online, I talked the guy down to $150 and bought it. pretty happy with that deal.
now I installed it 100% properly this time and it still didn't work.. so then my dad and I realized that a fuse had blown on the cars side when I ****ed up last time.. and that's the reason why my alpine wasn't working after I hooked the wires up properly..
so now I have an extra alpine deck.. I guess I'l sell it online.
so I've hooked it all up now!
thanks for the support and even the laughs :P
Ryan.

But, you let the smoke out on that Alpine. You might want to bench test it before you sell it online.

RyanICS 07-01-2008 04:14 PM

yea, I was going to do that first.. I'm not very ambitious with selling my own gear online.. but If I do ever decide to sell if I'l be testing it first.
