pg bass cube or line driver..discuss

:dunno: so I was wondering what would be better to have a PG bass cube or PG Line driver? pros and cons of both

Higher preout voltage isn't always necessary. If you don't have noise at the moment the introduction of a LD could very well be just a waste of money.
Bottom line: some systems will benefit from the use of one especially if you have noise in the signal otherwise it will be a waste of cash in most systems already equiped with a good HU.

Also, the PG Basscube is nothing but a subsonic filter with a single parametric eq point. Hardly worth the money IMO.
Bottom line: Unless you want to spend $250 to get a single PEQ band and a subsonic filter just skip this.

The same can be said about the Audiocontrol Epicenter. Sure it adds more bass into the recording and as such was a nice piece when we were rockin tape decks in our vehicles but with most decent CD's now there is plenty of low end in the recording that comes through loud and clear.

i think you need to tell us what are you trying to do
i had both
if your deck does 8v out but if your deck does 0.5v linedrives will give you a (say 8v all the time) but if my amp needs 4v why give it 8v?
bacecube i did not use it then sold mine

Well, The Bass Cube is basically a parametric eq with 8V max in/out and a remote bass control. while the Line Driver only boost line level signal voltage to 8V max @ 50 ohms, and no signal processing.

Bass Cube:
- Pro: if you have a sealed subwoofer system that needs some boost at the lowest octave… the Bass Cube could help. Or a ported box that you want the boost at the tuning frequency then roll off sharply after, again the Bass Cube could help. And the remote bass control allows you to show off your subs when you want to.

- Con: It could make the subbass drome badly if iimproperly set up, with poor transient response.

Line Driver:
- Pro: if your deck is 500mv-2v, it could improve dynamic range. And even improve inductive noise issues from long signal cable runs.

- Con: It will increase hiss to some degree and whatever noise your deck has already, will be more including alternator whines. But in most case.. once level is matched up, it should be o.k.

.. and the Audio Control Epicenter subbass processor actually recreate subbass information from an octave above to an octave below (100hz to 50hz, or 80hz to 40hz etc) then its roll off sharply below 30hz. very similar to the DBX Subharmonic Synthesizers.

why not look at Audio Control line up like dqx dqxs ......
