Power problem
 

Everything is hooked up fine. a 12, and 2 10's. 1000 watt amp and a 1 farad capacitor. My capacitor is always on for some reason. Like when i turn the car off, everything turns off (amp, deck, everything) except for my capacitor. The digital display is always on displaying my volts. Everyonce and a while my truck has a really hard time starting, and a twice it needed to be boosted. My buddy said the capacitor could be draining the battery. My brother said maybe put a switch between the battery and my amp to turn everything off when i leave the truck. A good idea? Any other ideas?

Cap it should spell crap they suck get rid of it upgrade your battery for one that will help lots.

Same thing happened to my car... Needed a new starter.

The cap display should time out when the voltage is stable. If your voltage is changing, the cap should stay on.
The display on a cap doesn't draw very much power, you could measure it in Miliamps. Your head unit will also draw miliamps, just to keep the clock and settings. The cap itself, shouldn't draw any power once charged.
I have 2 caps and the displays both shut off in about 1 minute after everything else shuts off.
I've left my car for over a month and it still started.

How do i charge my capacitor. Or does it just charge once i plug it in?

You could read the instructions that came with it. Or, if you've already got it hooked up, it's charged.
