Rear Channel much louder than front...
 

Hey guys, originally was going to get an alpine 9815, but something came up and I found a great deal on a JVC KD-G710 that came with an icelink>plus ipod adapter. The deck has 2 preouts, front and rear, front is running to my amp for the fronts, and rear is running to my subs.

My problem is, is that I cannot fade out the rears without fading out the sub. The rears are far louder than the fronts for some reason. Considering my amp is 4ch, I am planning on bridging my fronts, but I need y-adapters so i can use both front and rear channels for my fronts, but I do not have the money for y-adapters/splitters, and not even sure if that will fix my situation

The amp for the fronts is a VRA4.0, I know, not the greatest, but it should be able to overpower the deck. What can I do?

(please don't say get new hardware, because that is not an option)

*****and yes I have adjusted and tinkered with the gain setting on the amp

I had an idea, hear me through

if I were to:
-hook up rear speakers to front speaker leads on deck;
-change front speakers to rear speakers on amp terminal
**in theory if I fade fronts out on HU, rears are actually faded, but leaves fronts and subs working because the fronts are seen as rears.


it makes sense in my mind, but I cannot portray this situation very well.

why not just disconnect the rear speakers?

that is also an option, I will try it and see how much I like it.

but from what I remember, I do enjoy some rear fill...I find it completes the system. but thats me.

okay, my theory there didnt work at all. So I totally removed the rears. Messed with gain on fronts aswell on sub. Now sounds pretty darn good. I am actually fairly pleased with how well it sounds! Thanks a lot!

Now, lets say I want to run the 2 front speakers bridged on the 4ch amp. I would have to get y-splitters for the RCA's, and then hook one speaker up to the rear channels and one to the front channels, correct?

oh and another thing. If I bridge my 2 front speakers (4ohm each), the impedance doesn't change...does it?

Im sure that if you bridge your front speakers you will loose left and right ability, just like you did with the front and rear fading. If you bridge your 4 ohms speakers the amp will see this a a two ohm load. Is it possible you are not running full RMS power to the fronts?

get the splitters, hook both lefts to one bridge(1&2)hook both right to other bridge(3&4) that way you will have left to right balance and "stereo" sound.
As far as impendence goes,naw wont change,it only changes when you hook speakers together in parallel or in series.
