Repair Question - Need An Expert!!!
Hello, so for a while now, my sub outputs have not been working ever since i hotswapped my rca's at my amp and grounded the tip out.
I decided to open it up today to see what i could find, and i found one, maybe two charred components. They look to me like they are transistors or something of that sort since there is 3 prongs, and they are very tiny. They have H03 written horrizontaly on them, and 05 is written directly to the right and perpinduclar to that, so maybe its supposed to say H0305... These parts have Q119 and Q120 written bellow them and they're near where the sub out connection is. The brand of the HU is a Power Acoustik PTID 7002NR. What are these components, and where would i be able to find these? Thanks for your help!

well i hate to be a negative nelly and not answer your question (as asked) but you may have identified problems but did you identify all the symptoms of a bone headed move? This should be properly troubleshot and repaired by a trained professional or the pain of a failed component will simply continue till you do.
Philosophically you're essentially going down the same path you did when you hotswapped the RCA's.

No worries, I'm a DIY kind of person, so i would sooner have my cd player completely fail than pay someone else to fix my own problem. If i can find out what that part is, i can simply remove that piece and solder in a new one and have the satisfaction of fixing it myself! Thank you for your words of wisdom though.

Hello, Thank you for your reply. The numbers on top of them say H0305, or H03-05. The picture is kind of blurry i don't have my good camera with me. I did a quick google of those numbers but came up with no results
I put it back in the car for now until i can find out what it is. I might ask my electronics teacher if he knows what it is when i get back to school.

Good luck finding parts. I did this with one of my low grade pro audio amps, and even though the amp is brand new, no replacement parts could be found anywhere (I'm not a diy guy in this area and had a pro look at it and search for me). Of course, my situation was a lot worse than your's, but unless you can figure out exactly what to replace your burnt components with, you're chances of actually fixing it yourself are slim to nil. But good luck none the less.
Thanks. It is definately a transistor, and i am getting closer to finding out which one. this: http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/data...64/64658_1.pdf might lead me in the right direction. It shows that the marking is H03, but i am not sure what the 05 means that is perpendicular to the H03..
H03 is the DTC343TK transistor with built in resistor. The 05 is probably a date code. Datasheet is here and you will probably have to find a suitable replacement since they seem to be a "factory only" type.
Edit: Just checked out your link and realized I repeated it. Sorry.

so somehow grouding the signal caused a voltage spike that shorted the muting resistors? interesting. Are both fried? so you grounded both L and R sub outs? First check to see if they are actually connected to the sub output signal. A muting transistor would be turned on and short the signal to ground.
Try just removing them first and see if you get signal back!
