which speakers? please help!

the new fliers from future shop and best buy are out

they are advertising speakers for sale, which of these are the better buy:

Insignia-2 12'' subs and amp combo-$149.99
MTX 6.5'' XThunder triaxial speakers- 49.99 pair
ENERGY- 120-watt 6.5'' coaxial speakers (woven glass fiber cones)- 69.99 pair
Infinity 300- watt 6x9'' 2-way speakers -99.99 pair

what should i choose? i have a 1998 mazdaprotege and i have a new head unit installed. the rear speakers right now sound very weird like they're fuzzy or something.

um, why would you mention the subs and amp, and then a bunch of speakers? what exactly are you trying to get out of a pair of 6x9s that you are also trying to get out of a sub and amp?

well, i mentioned the sub and amp because of the price. the speakers i need to get, because my stock speakers are fuzzy and crackly. the pair of 6x9s are the rear speakers, of which seem to be making the most crackling noise in the car.
im trying to get crisp sound and have bass too

Upgrade the front speakers. I have that set of MTX's that i'll give you for $40 (new). then I'd pickup that Insignia Package. I installed them in a friend of mines Corolla with a ported enclosure and its decent, especially for the price

Did they sound "fuzzy" before you put that head unit in? If not, you probably pooched them with the new head unit and a happy trigger finger. New speakers are probably a good idea but budget for a decent 2 channel amp too.

You get what ya pay for..all the ptions above are virtually swapping stock poop for aftermarket ppop with the exception of the infinities which, depending on your car would be a marginal improvement at best.. There's a good bit of fantastic bang for the buck speakers out there. Rob..Mr2NR is liquidating a lot of Eclipse stock dirt cheap which would out do any of the above listed in a heartbeat...

I always stress going drive around one day, shop to shop and ignore the salesman spew and just listen with your ears.. see what sounds best to you that fits into your budget.

If your willing to budget 150 for speakers like said in the first item, I'd go some where else and look for a decent sent of component speakers from alpine or something.

Also that energy brand has a set of 6.5" component speakers that aren't too bad for a fair price
