Stereo hum. need some help please
current system:
pioneer deh-p3900mp headunit
pioneer gm-x952 amp
clarion apx400.4 amp
2 clarion SRM-3400 subs
stock speakers wired into clarion amp.
problem:
as of last saturday i was working on pulling my subs outta the truck and found everything had been electrical tapped together and was starting to corrode. so i decided to go over everything that i seen electrical tapped and made proper connections. i worked my way into the dash, and pulled the head unit for the first time to see more corroded electrical tapped wires in there. after i fixed, or so i thought to have fixed i put everything back, unpluged my pioneer amp and pulled the subs out for the week. turn the truck on, no sound. found out that the deck is now fried!!!
talked to a good buddy the next day and borrowed his pioneer headunit to try out. got everything wired up and now i have a clicking noise when the truck is turned to acc. and then a low level hum while its running, that increases when i rev it up.
now what i havn't done is move my rc cables away from my powercord, because for some reason the guy thought it was the right thing to do.
so my question is how do i get rid of this hum, ive cleaned the grounds on the battery and im still tracking down the system ground. do i need some sort of filter now? and why didn't it do this before, maybe i bumped something in this hack job show im called my truck stereo system.
should be a fun weekend of re-wiring thats for sure.

The issue is with the cd player almost 100%. It has fried a fuse internally in it (a microfuse so don't bother looking for it, it is not something that you can replace). Try taking a small length of wire and grounding one side of it to the chassis of the cd player and take the other bare end of the wire and touch it to the shield of one of the rca cables to where it attaches at the cd player, see if the noise goes away.

ok. i was just talking to a friend of mine, he ended up having to take the ground wire and just grounding it right to the deck body. im going to try your method but is his ok to try as well, or in principal they are both the same really?

they are different. what mr2 is talking about is a ground signal inside the cd player is not working because of a "broken wire" or micro fuse inside. by grounding the out side of the rca cable you are "fixing" the bad ground inside the cd player.
by taking the black wire off the back of the cd player and putting it to the body you are just re doing the ground in hopes that the initiall ground signal was the problem.
a nother thing to look for is that the out side of the rca cable is not resting on any kind of metal. a good tip is to wrap the rca cable connection in electrical tape just to be sure.
