Sub just stopped working...
Hey, so I've had my sub in my car for about 10 months now, and its been great until last night. I was driving playing my music really loud, it was on a song with quite a bit of loud bass. All of a sudden the sub goes dead, however I did notice on my deck that the sub indicator was still showing the sub was on. Once I got to where I was going I popped the trunk, amp was on, i turned it all off and checked the fuse anyway, it was fine. This morning I took the sub out of my car and removed it from the box to see if there was something wrong with the wiring inside and everything seems to be fine.
Any ideas on what I should check/test next???

You say you took the sub out to check the wiring...I'm assuming you checked the tinsil leads?.....I'd hook it up out of the box and play some music at a very low volume and move the tinsel leads around...sometimes it doesn't even look detached but is....might need to be replaced or resoldered.

thank you all for your help, I did the battery test and nothing happened, so i reopened the sub box and took the sub out and behold, one of the tinsel leads has severed. Because this is under warrenty at futureshop i might go see what they'll let me replace it with rather than fixing it myself right away. This is my first time using this forum and you guys were great help! Have a good one!

There are a couple of common causes of a tinsel lead breaking.
1) the tinsel lead is too short at point of assembly. It takes a little time under normal use to have the tinsel lead detach.
2) you are using the sub beyond it's abilities and the tinsel lead is being stretched to the point of breaking.
3) the tinsel lead was poorly soldered on and pulled out of the mounting hole.
In alot of cases of basic subs it is a assembly related issue.

well 10months of playing, the spiders are prolly tiring making the xmax a lil higher then it should be causing tinsels to stretch no? (on average daily playing music maybe mighta lasted quite a bit longer) regardless a Very easy fix and hopefully futureshop warranties it, they are 90% good for it without question
