I posted this in the For Sale section, but of course I can't move it...so, I am infact looking for some 8 volt cells.
Thanks Shawn |
Option 1) Typical "GC" batteries, same size as what you've seen in 6 volt many times, just in an 8 volt variety, invented for and commonly used in golf carts (hence the "GC"). Keep in mind that since they are the same size as the 6 volt ones you're used to, each cell is a little bit skinnier, to make room for the fourth cell. This would reduce efficiency slightly. Specs are as follows:
Part Number: US8VGC Measurements (inches): 10.4L x 7.1W x 11.6H (height measurement is to top of posts, not top of case) R/C @ 25A: 165ah (the typical 6 volt is 220ah or better, see note above) In stock at my warehouse here in Calgary. This is a deep cycle battery, meaning it was designed to be cycled regularly. Your cost: $146.99 ea, + GST Option 2) Commercial starting 8 volt batteries. These are becoming more & more common, as more & more commercial & farm equipment are coming out with the new charging systems. Comparable to 4D & 8D CAT batteries in size and weight. These are starting batteries rather than deep cycle, they'll hold a large load at a higher voltage than a deep cycle, which is probably more suitable for your requirements, since a drag is only 30 seconds max at a time. Also, bigger batteries is more efficient than many batteries, no matter how you slice it. Adding cabling and connectors to hook up 20 or 40 GC sized batteries is not as efficient as having 4, 8, or 12 massive batteries, so I bet if you went bigger than GC size, you'd save money and be more efficient to boot! My warehouse has not just one, but FOUR different types of these, check 'em out: S258V 19 x 7.2 x 10.3 400ah Warehouse Starting battery $299.99 S278V 21.1 x 7.5 x 11 470ah Warehouse Starting battery $349.99 S318V 27.6 x 7.6 x 11 500ah Warehouse Starting battery $392.99 S358V 26.8 x 8.8 x 11.2 550ah Warehouse Starting battery $444.99 I have a Lethbridge warehouse too [ November 20, 2005, 09:47 PM: Message edited by: GrizZz ] |
