12 inch Alpine type R box build. help!
Hey guys,
This is my first attempt at actually building a sub box. I recently acquired a 12 inch alpine type R and im looking to build a box that will yeild best results in a ported design. Ive done some reading thus far, but I would like suggestions on what would be the best box and port dimensions for this sub. Its going into the trunk of a 03 mitsubishi lancer, if that makes a difference. And i usually face the sub to towards the seat. Should it be L-port? Or Slot port? What kinda MDF do I use..3/4 inch? What kind of screws and glue? Im fairly capable of building but im new to the whole tuning of the box. Right now I have a mtx tc6001 amp, that pushes 600watts rms at 2 ohms, which should be plenty for this sub as its rated for 300 :/. So basically, I have about 15-16 inches high, about 40 inches wide, and length is whatever it needs to be to make the sub sound proper. Ive included the specs below. I listen to a lot of reggae, hiphop, and RnB and would like a mix of SQ and SPL. Not into competitions but I want it to sound loud as well. If you guys could help me out as to a design that would work, and what frequency is best for the port to be tuned, please advise!! All of your help is greatly appreciated!
