15" sub 6" aero - elbow or not

2 Attachment(s)
Here's a pic of the first of two boxes planned for the behind the rear seats in the van. Essentially made to do ports back/loading instead of the ports up we have now.

Each made for a single 15" sub .-- 3.6cuft gross, 3.2 net when tuned to 48hz with a 6" psp aero port.

The pencil marks on the first pick show different config. of sub size(12" 15")/port size( 1-6"/ 2-4") ---- sub/port back.

A 15" sub and a 6" psp port(9 1/4" flange!!) doesn't fit setup port/sub back:dunno:

So I figure, Sub up/ port back. 2nd pic 15" on top 6" psp in upper corner

If everything ended up the same,tuning/displament wise.
Would having a 90 deg. elbow inside the box that allows the inner port to face down have any advantage of the inner port facing back??

I'm waaay o drunk Yo understand what your Sayin, but happy Canada Day ; but calculate your box and port seperate. Box size should b correct vs. Port . Whatever you research. Allow for port tuning.

^^^^Sorry about that. LOL.

ive bent an aero port before with minimal success.

SOULMUSIC 07-07-2011 06:21 AM

I not going to bend it manually, I`m going to buy a thin wall 90 deg. PCV elbows. I was told it fits the PSP ports well enough. Must have been hell trying to bend one up!!

Just realized I forgot to say I have used a bent aeroport. I used the above mentioned elbow. It messed with it. Wasn't a get idea on my part. Try it. What didn't work for me may work for you.

Yeah, good idea, we'll probably try the boxes with the elbow and a lower tuning, Then if the SPL for 39.9 isn't there we'll tune higher with straight ports and hope the air flows well enough.
Although the depth of the box with straight ports limits us to a low of 40hz for tuning. :ohwell: Guess we'll find out sometime soon what works best, thanks man:smilie_da
