i sent the money order today.

i dont really know what im doing but ive been designing boxes for a long time.

if i build in the car than what happends if i can fit a screw somewhere, would i glue & resin? how he heeeelllll would i bolt it to the car?

Sonic 07-06-2012 09:15 PM

glue and resin and use L-brackets inside the box

L-brackets and bolts can be used to secure the box in the car if you dont want to do any fancy fabrication for securing.

found a good build with brackets but ill be doing my original plan because....

Someone recommended a shop ive never heard of (DSI customs), 15 minutes away, and i just got back. finally ive found a shop that knows how to do what i need. these guys know their stuff big time. they had some intense car show stuff going on and knew as much about boxes as me.

they can work within my budget.

recommended 1.5" thick MDF (yes - 1.5"!), saying 3/4 would flex hard even with middle bracing, bringing the space from 15 to 13.5 cuft.

my original idea is good and theyll use it (build box, put through door, built port in the car). false floor too. it should come out to about 13.5 cubes. angled baffle. i couldnt be happier.

im buying a b stock RE 2500 @ 1 (xtx 5000.1) from them, too. All I need is another $500 and i'm done!

That's good man, a little extra to get the works done correctly always pays off. And yes with the 1.5 MDF you cant go wrong. Post some pics up on the progress if you get the chance. Good luck mann !

I'm waiting on an insurance quote. It's my car but in my dads name and my parents pay half my insurance. They don't want to pay extra for stereo stuff so they want it in my name, where id be paying full insurance. If it's too much to insure than I'll most likely be doing an 8 cube sealed box in the trunk. If it's +$100/year than ill be doing the wall. I'll buy the amp when I get paid in a couple days. I'm getting mixed reviews on it but i like it and it has a warranty.

In a bit of a tight situation there, hope it all works out good.

Called insurance guy. It wouldn't be considered a 2 seater with a wall (4 door). It wouldn't be any more money whatsoever, however, my parents still want the car in my name just in case something happens to it because of the stereo... which happened to my last car, my sunfire was stolen for the stereo. My mom never claimed on the box, sub, deck, about $1500, the total amount I was covered for.

Buying a RE XTX 5000.1.

Sonic 07-11-2012 09:21 AM

Thats good news that you dont have to pay any more money, sorry to hear about your last car mann..
