I would think all the extra hardware required to use car audio amps and processors would pretty much equal what it will cost for the right home equipment....and then there's the extra hassle of putting it all together..... If you run the drivers in series for that 8ohm load, you should get a mono subwoofer plate amp as suggested above. Not only will you get more power than a typical home stereo amp or receiver, it will have gain and xover controls on it to help with the setup. Having looked at the specs for that particular amp, it does 500w at a 4ohm....sooo......you could build a box for 1 of the subs (around 2.5cuft or so) and just shove it in a corner..... Even a single 15" sub with 500w in a small to medium room will generate a lot of bass.....hopefully the rest of the system will keep up...... HTH Yes I agree that It would probably cost more. But I really have no clue as to where to order my parts in from, I know the U.S has Parts express but Do they ship over boreder, THen Also do they do COD? Cuz Im only 16 and dont quite have a Visa or want one :O =p Edit: Just noticed the FS is 34hz I read that the FS has a tight coRrelation to the lowest frequency that its able to produce??? What I was also thinking At a l8er time if things work out is to build a ported box for a pair of Titanic MK3's =D I love the look of those and the Xmax would make for some heartthrobbing HT experience. NOT YET L8ERL8ER xD....... Also What did you say about using an HTB reciever? I heard a while back they use all kinds up ****ed up Impedances made for certain speakers so that you can switch it out. Is this right? Cause the cost of a good one is quite a bit. Id probs go for 8.1 then run sub output to a wall amp???? good idea??? lol I dunno we shall see, I have some upcoming sales of bike parts so Might make muny more available.

So if anybody wants to know, I just got the subs today. I hope to be acquiring MDF a.s.a.p and getting on the box. THe subs dont have squeeze clip in for the wires and Im wondering, Since I dont have a solder gun, How I would get wires connected?? Im a lil lost atm. The + & - look like those little metal slide on things. Any Help? =P SHould have pics of them up soon. Thanks

I recently built 2 Boxes for Home Subs.
They are each 3 cu ft @ 32 Hz. They told me to tune lower for home theater, but I use them for Music much louder than Movies. I'm Really glad I didn't tune lower. I use a home stereo amp to power them 450W @ 2ohms, Each. With Grill Covers; Attachment 22297 Without; Attachment 22298 |
Aha thats F*uckin awesome! =D But I was wonedering, are those magnetically shielded ? :P I also got a question, how do you mount the subs to the box, cuz I was thinkin screws but those would either rip up the mdf of just work their way out.. And what about sealing the sub gasket area?

If you really wanna see a nice HT sub look at a TC/Audiopulse LMS 5400. As for mounting the subs Machine screws and Hurricane nuts, not T- nuts, is the best option, otherwise there is specific screws you can use for MDF. Ive been looking at a SVS ultra PB-13 lately got a HT sub, but may go DIY. |
