1. One cubic foot per woofer is too small for a 12" woofer.
2. There is not enough port area.

i just finished a box for my cavalier for a pair of tf one 12's..........box volume total is 5.75 cubes and port is 6"x15.5"x31", total port displacement of 1.7 cubes leaving me with 4 cubes and around 3.6 cubes after subs.

you think its going to sound ok with a 500.1?? for daily ofcourse!

So if u think if I add an inch to the depth do you think that will be enough?

Do u think if I switched up the wood I'd be a bad idea instead of using 3 4th use like 1\2? Or quarter inch

never Use anything Less then 3/4 MDF for sub boxes.

sx4life 09-21-2009 12:39 AM

3/4 or dont build imo

myx_maniac 09-21-2009 07:38 AM

how do you plan on using 1/2 let alone 1/4 good luck trying to get the screws to not split it or let alone when you hear the first few hits of the subs and then nothing because the whole box blows apart. better off to make it right once, then curse yourself after when you have to build it again. mustain has some nice drawings and good deminsions, i'm sure it would be your best bet, and you even have some nice blueprints now. i'm running two type r's and my first box was identical to the drawings.

Good luck and make sure you most some pics for us :P

I absolultly will and yeah I made my frist box out of 1\2 and it split. But that's cuz they had nothing else.

I wasn't gunna do it I was jw cuz I got some wood left over. I'm not screwin it tho I'm nailing it using my nail gun?

Another question how do you cut the hole with a router iv never used one but my dad has one he's gunna show me how but he wants me to use a jigg saw.

I used a jig saw for years building boxes.Trust me, you'll wanna use the router. Takes seconds to cut a flawless circle as aposed to like 5 minuits or so using a jig saw. Not to mention the shitty cut you end up with.
You'll need a circle jig for your router. There like 30 or 40 bucks. I made mine with about $1.50 worth of materals from home depot. Next time I go out to the shop for a few bong ripz I'll take a few pictures of it for you.

Please do

Just drill the center hole for your jig to pivot on. obviously you will have to manually line up where the blade cuts.

Also you don't need to use screws or nails. some good wood glue and clamps are just fine and you don't have any chance at splitting the wood this way. With that said I would still recommend using a few screws just to be safe. BUT ALWAYS, PRE-DRILL THE HOLES)

PRE-DRILL ALL HOLES WHEN USING MDF!!!!!

Weman 09-22-2009 12:19 AM

I don't wanna screw it again it splits way to easy I learned that with my first box. And I pre drilled. Ill show my dad ur pics and se wat he thinks thanks bro
