we install a ton of those boxes. They work "O.K". The finish and construction of them are acceptable. If you can save a little more money, I'd recomend a box designed specifically for your sub and built buy an experianced installer. For a little extra money you may get a lot more sound!

If he's 'iffy' about forking out 200 bucks for a ready made box, then I would think spending 350-400 for a quality custom built one would be out of the question, that is unless he can build it himself, or knows someone that can.

sweet I just called a local sound shop and a factory made pioneer box made for my subs specs $180+tax is cheaper than the prefab one
the factory box must be good if made to my subs specs.

^ You may have misunderstood. The shop probably quoted you a custom box built to the factory recommendations.

Generally, Pioneer does not sell boxes and the ones they do/did were cheap particleboard (TS1000 truck boxes anyone )

That being said, If you can have a custom box made for $200.00 to the specifications of your woofer it is a tremendous value.
Agreed.

If cosmetics are important, it's tough to beat a bassworx box.
