Best screws to secure subs

Hey all,

what is the best type/size of screw that should be used to secure a sub to 3/4" MDF? Would 3/4" inch be too long?

Also forgot.... What type of head should the screw have? There are the rounded top heads with the flat underside or the tapered heads.

depends on what you are screwing into. if your screwing into mdf then just some pain wood screws will work find, i used a #8 size for it.

i like to use t nuts with bolts. you can take the sub in and out as many times as you like and it wont ever strip

I would definitely suggest T nuts, but if you're going to screw into the wood, find some #10 particle board or MDF screws (yes, there is such a thing) they are the best thing for MDF

i have always used 1 1/4" #8 wood screws( sometimes call deck screws), never had a problem with them.

forgive me for asking but how do you get that to work? one side will be inside the box so...

youre right, 1 side will be inside

its simple

drill sub holes,

put bottom of tnut inside box, hammer gently into place, then put sub inside box, use bolts to secure to T-nut.

How do the t-nuts embed themselves? Are there sharp edges on them? Would they be hard to install in a dual 8" sub box (22x10x10)? Do they sell these at home depot?
