Which box should I use?
So here's my situation. Both my sub and amp are made by kaption audio, www.kaptionaudio.com, if you need specifics to check out stuff. I have one Kaption 12" SPL-1200, and I will be running it off a Kaption D-700.1, and I am deiciding on a box, I have already run it with another in a sealed box, and I want to go to a ported. I am deciding between two, the first being built for my sub by Kaption, (SPL V-112) which is side slot ported and can be found on http://www.kaptionaudio.com, and the second one is http://www.cardomain.com/item/QLCQLH17512SS which is front ported. I am having a tough time deciding, so any help would be great. Thanks

In your case, the most important difference between the difference in ports for that particular enclosure, would be what it's tuned to.. Lower Hz for deeper bass which is great SQ but not as strong in SPL, as opposed to a port tunning the hz to a higher figure which is gerat for SPL and punchy type of bass but will lack in the deep low notes. The other difference would be, finding out what the recommended cu. ft. is for each sub and figuring out which box has the closest figure to that, and of course the thicker the MDF the better.. I would recommend nothing less then 1", but your average box comes with 0.75" so I guess you'll have no option but to go with that one, but dont ever go with the 0.50" MDF enclosure, they will be too weak for your application most likely.
