Building a comeback box!
 

Hey everyone! Been ages since I've even tampered with car audio and I'm planning a little comeback!

I've had 2 X Premier TS-W2000SPL subs for years now. Originally had them installed in a custom ported box by the store I bought them from.
That box ended up getting destroyed when I tried to take it out of the car it was in, and I made about 6 boxes trying to get near as much bass as it had!!
Never came close =(

So I was hoping for an amazing box building to, if not design a final box for me, to at least give some helpful spec. on how I can make this box the best!

Barely remember the custom anymore, but the vent was only about 3"X5" inches, and placed in the center of the 2 subs. I tried everything from center 3" round vents to entire width of the enclosure by like 2 inch slot vents.

Musically I go towards rock / hard rock / grunge type songs, so rap / bullshit is out. Don't think the tuning would need to be really low, but I'm open to all good suggestions! Just want my boom boom back!

Also looking into a new premier amp for the set up as my last 2 have fried for some reason. The subs are rated 750WRMS/2000WMAX.

you would be better off building a common chamber with the subs mounted as close to
each other as possible and take advantage of mutual coupling and have the port off to one side

the thing you want to pay attention to is port velocity... adjust the port area
until you get a port velocity in the 5% to 8% range

for this you will need a decent enclosure design program...

I use Termpak and Termpro .... they are bang on

So far what I've come up with is a box that's 18" HEIGHT, 36" WIDE (Maximum space for vehicle) and 13.75" DEEP, both subs firing BACK (into the hatch), and a 16" X 3" X 20" long Slot(?) port firing UP.
Outside dimensions, and should end up 3.7 cubic feet, tuned to 36~ HZ

Could also move the box around so subs up port back, or subs forward port up, obviously depending on what sounds better in the hatch.

Would this still be considered a SLOT vent, if it's not the entire length of the back of the box? or should I use one of the 18" sides...

Would the vent being in the middle of the box be better sound than on the side (Closer to 1 sub than the other)?
