Can I port my box this way

I managed to find a Clarion SSW1001 at Liquidation World of all place for $70 and will be building a ported box in short order.
It will be going in to a 2000 ford f150. The limited space makes the box a little more difficult to build. As shown in the pic the longest portion will be underneath the rear seat. The square portion will be in the middle of the floor in the rear. Due to the mounting depth the sub cannot be put under the seat. Is it acceptable to build the port as shown? |
Shouldn't be any issues.

Do they have any more? Or just happened to find the one? LOL Pics? The reason I ask is I currently have 2 of these beasts. Oh and I don't see any issues with the port placement either. How much power are you going to be feeding it? It will take the full 1000rms it is rated for daily, been doing it for months and the worst I managed was a dust cap blew off of one.

Stick to the Clarion specs....those woofers do not like larger enclosures.....stick to the 1cuft @34hz and you will be very happy....especially for $70.....nice price, BTW.....:smilie_da

The box will still be made in the shape as shown in the picture, built to 1cuft with the port as shown. The remainder of the space under the seat will be used to hold an amp rack. Given the rather small ported recommended box size am I to assume that the box should be 1 cuft after displacement? It seems some manufacturers give recommended specs before displacement. |

yes you can it is called a slot or duct port and you need to add a correction factor. The effective length of the port will be a bit longer than the physical length because of the wall on one or more sides.

Kinda a weird mish mash of items they must have scrounged from some unlucky business on closeout. This sub seemed to be the only screaming deal. My current plan was to run it on my MRP-M500 @ 2 ohm 500w. I can also run each coil bridged at 4 ohm with my MB Quart DSC4125 500w x 2 to see what, if any impact it would have on output. |
