so ive just finished building my 2nd box for these, and still not satisfied. ive done subs forward, port up in middle, but the box made me move my seat to close to the steering wheel it was 6 cubes 80sq inches of port, and i think there wasn't enough port area. sounded good though.

my new box is subs up, port up (drivers side) 6 cubes, 94 sq inches of port. both box's tuned to 32 hz, so im looking to for help on something will i will be happy with, im not looking for numbers, just something that gets low and hella loud at it.

my truck is a 99 s10 ext cab. do i need a bigger box for such low tuning? higher tuning? i play a lot of low 30-35 hz songs when i have it full tilt. i can only go max 16" deep with subs up, max 43" long, and height shorter the better, but right now box is 25, and i could go up to like 32? i just dont want my subs and port way above me head. if i do subs forward, the box has to be less depth so i dont have to push my seats forward again. please help box builders!!!

P.S running off a saz 3500 at 1 ohm..

I would look toward 18-22" or more per cu for tuning that low. Which of course will require a slightly larger enclosure. You might even want to go closer to 7 cubes.

How deep is a 15" nightshade?

Pickup trucks are really hard to get solid deep bass in.. they just aren't long enough,,you will usually hear and feel the notes better with the windos open or standing 10 feet from the truck than inside it.

yea i like the bass when my doors open and im standing outside in it, i know its hard because the subs are like 6 inches from my head lol

Well... yes and no. 15" subs have A LOT of back wave that needs to be released. If you choke them out, the port becomes turbulent and out of phase which in turn yields less gain from the port.

After looking at the Nightshade specs, if you want to go that low. Go with 7cubes and 126-154"sq of port tuned to 32hz and that should get some air moving.

Like already mentioned though. It's hard to get the lows moving in such a small area.

yea i know its pretty hard, right now the lows hit not to bad, but i want to get some more air moving inside. but also dont want to loose some sound quality (i know its not a sq setup, but im sure you know what i mean) ive been told 80 sq inches for daily, 120+ for spl for dual NS...? im not saying you are wrong by any means, im just stating what ive been told.
