well ive been reading alot, and asking ppl about this, nd what was told to me was that for a single 15', recommended sq inches are 12-16 per cu ft. and my box is a 4.0 cu ft so the port should be in a range between 48-64 sq inches ? and also, i told him i will be atteneding competitions so i guess it is more SPL oriented.
thanks

Do yourself a favor and forget you ever read anything that relates the volume of the enclosure to the area of the vent.
A 1.5cuft box has an 8" driver in it. Another 1.5cuft box has a 12" driver in it. Should they have the same vent area? The volume of the box is the same but the 12 will have more than double the air displacement (all things being equal) so does it not make sense that maybe something other than simple box volume drives port area. Now double the box size for the 12. Should the port be twice the area? Why? The driver displacement is the same!
Anyway, like I say, do yourself a favor and forget you ever read that.
