Help painting sub box

Hi folks. I've got my box custom made by joef from the forum, which he did an awesome job. But since the box is raw, I'd like to have it finished. Currently I have lightly sanded and painted it in black enamel just to lightly seal it off...especially the cuts. I'd like to have it properly filled, primed, and painted. A simple flat/gloss black would do. Could anybody help me out with this? Sub coming in early next week and I'd love to get this done ASAP

The best thing for filler is actual wood filler, but for absolut durability i use body filler on holes and cracks. Use a gray primer, this works great with all colours, do a couple coats till you dont notice any spots then colour.

Cool. That's exactly what I did. First I filled in all the gaps and holes with bondo glazing putty. Sanded it down. Then I covered the whole box with bondo filler. The filler is extremely hard now, and I prolly have to sand down the whole box with 40 - 80 -100 grit tomorrow. I find that applying the body filler properly seems very difficult. How thick of a body filler should I leave on the box?

I have 3 cans of gray krylon primer, and 3 cans of black paint.

You only need 2-3 layers tops of fiberglass. i did not know you wanted to have the whole box glassed, i was only recommending on the holes and the cracks with body filler. But you are on the right track to glass the whole thing. Start with a rough sandpaper or file to get the major inperfections out. and then work your way down to 120 grit, to level and smooth it out, then a very fine emery to finsih it off. wipe it clean with a dry cloth then do your painting, with glass let your paint sit at least 90 minutes between coats in dry warm area, and be very light with your coats. It is very easy to get runs started on this stuff.

Thanks for the pointers. I used up a whole can to do 90% of the box. Bought another can yesterday which I will take care of the remaining and touch up a little. The body filler has harden like rock now.
