"hidden amp" on box...

Would this work?

The subs would be facing my backseat, and the backseats only come down with a key (zip tie/hide the "release" latch inside the truck), so only way possible to get to them, is pry the seats off with a crobar...or have my key.

The brown lines in the picture are a "walls" ontop of the box, the green thing is the amp - there would be walls on all sides except the side that has the subs, so it from the trunk, it just looks like a box. So 1 side would be open (carpet would be across the top), would that have enough air flow, or would it get to hot? If so....I think it would be a neat idea to get a few computer fans and put them on the open side, since they run off 12v, I could hook them right up to my amp.

Would this work?

Some amps get hot no matter what and some are very good at cooling. What kind of amp.

the problem with the design is the fans are fighting each other instead of working together, youd be better off with something more simple like this.. leaving a section of the front open for the fans to draw from.

Okay that sounds like a better idea, a freind of mine told me if the subs/fans are facing the same direction there would be to much pressure and the fans would break...I don't think thats true though - any input on that?

Jo-Psyko 06-30-2008 07:08 PM

no i wouldnt worry about that. if they are facing the same direction then the air from the subs would be travelling the same direction and the air from the fans.

danyman 06-30-2008 07:20 PM

i would prob put the fans in the the back facing the trunk so if you decide to open the back seat to see the subs and play music well you wont hear the fans running

Jo-Psyko 06-30-2008 07:22 PM

yeah thats true, and use 120mm fans if you can. they move more air at lower speeds then the 88mm so they are quieter and more efficient :)

danyman 06-30-2008 07:24 PM

true take the ones with the LED if you want a little color for looks hahaha just a thought when you look at fans

Jo-Psyko 06-30-2008 08:11 PM

yeah and if you want to get realy fancy tigerdirect.ca has these kick ass blue LED ones with variable speed control ive used them in alot of things. they are $14 ea. and have a great life time in my experience with them... as i in i havnt had one die yet!
