Horn box/bandpass or ported ?
Alright CCA crew, i dont post on here a lot. Im currently still trying to figure out a better enclosure for my gmc yukon. I have a custom made 12" woofer. Its a dc sound labs level 4 motor, the cone/cap and everything is custom on it got it from a friend who builds subs. The cone is super super stiff, and the coils in it are made to run around 1200 rms. Im giving the sub about 1100rms, but its just not loud enough for me. Dont get me wrong, it sounds good, but its not loud enough.
Its in a 2.5 cubic foot box, with a port tuned to 34hz. Im thinking i should tune the box higher to make it louder. Do you guys think 40hz would be okay ?
Also, its a regular ported box. Im a fairly good woodworker, and think a bandpass or horn box would be cool, but have no idea on how to build either. Can you guys give me some input on a "loud" enclosure ? I still want to be able to listen to music however, so anything tuned over 40hz would seem to be a little bit impractical.
Also, if its ported where should i aim the sub ? Where should i aim the port ?
Thanks
