I like to use big boxes. I find that the "lower end drop-off"(personal term) is much less with no loss or maybe even a gain around and above port tuning compared to a smaller, more "normal-sized" box.

I ran a 10" Pioneer TS-W25D4 in a 2.25 cube slot port @ 34hz(definitely not the loudest it could have been) off of a Rockford 325.1 for a while and it amazed everyone that heard it. I used to ask people what they thought I had in the trunk and the responses ranged from dual 10's, to a 15 and even dual 12's.

P.S. This was a bang for the buck system.
