Kick Pods Working For You In The Winter? Slush, Salt, Feet
I keep reading all these install threads and the suggestions to add kick pods. I would never think to add kick pods just because it takes away from the foot space, not to mention the salt and slush that are around in the winter.
So, to those that have them, have you been able to install a setup that works with these variables in mind? Or kick pods are a summer-only install? |
personally I could careless for the the dead pedal space. If you a careless about your gear salt shouldn't be an issue.
Mine are f'n huge and I have zero issues. I tell all passenger to kick their footware before sitting. |
I found my speakers would get stuff on them unfortunately. For the space issue,i have always been able to modify my leg rest positions to accommodate the pods even in manual cars.

Someone needs to design winter-covers for kick pods ... whether they can or can't be used during that time, just something to protect them when YOU KNOW the elements are bad (like a rainy day) ... Hmm ;)
And in terms of location, I've never run them myself but I've heard / seen them run in friend's vehicles ... they seem like an integral part of the experience upfront yet I hate them down there so much lol |
it's just one of those things.... you learn to deal with the dam things.
Always tell front seat passengers to watch how they sit and to not kick the tweet.lol |
I have two sets of grilles - one for people to tromp on (they always do) and a mint show set. The KP itself is vinyl so no trouble there with wet.
Making a cover for the whole KP would just be another step. No big deal. |
I think what must be key in the design is raising it off the floor as much as you can, that way no one is getting water and debris into it.

mine are very similar to the second pic. I like the first tons, very slick lookin.
|
The problem is that it's always a compromise between ideal positionning and debris\usibility. In the first pick, might as well put them in the door if they are going to be that off axis(I realise that they must be part of a 3 way setup where the doors are probably already occupied).

^^was about to say the same thing...it looks great, but that mid looks like it's firing right at the tranny tunnel.
