My first sealed enclosure! pics

90% finished box, Need carpets before the construction I thought to make a ported, but after using WinISD, those sub are recommanded with sealed box. It's a 5.25 cuft, the manual suggests to use 2.0-2.5cuft sealed for one.
My question is what gives when a bigger sealed box than recommanded size? What gives if I let the middle plate open, u know like manufacture twin enclosure the middle board is sealed between the 2 box. Thanks

is that 1/2" MDF? you might want to screw the front section to the divider you got there, to reduce the flexing...
Looks good otherwise

Doesn't look to bad. How does it sound? I just built my first sealed box for my car the other weekend (8 years in audio... first one heh) and it sounded like crap. Never again will I build another.

I have been in car audio for lol only 2 weeks and I built mine. It sound pretty punchy, sometimes makes me hard to breath in the car, because I put the box on my back seat. I thought it would fit into the trunk but after all the frigigin work, it wont rofl//

box building aside. that is about the dumbest thing you could do... you get into an accident, or have to slam on the brakes, and that box is going to go through the seats, through YOU, and through the windshield.. if it doesn't fit in the trunk make a new one, make it fit, or take it out of the car...

Let's not be stupid and get yourself killed, or a passenger...:thumbsdow

I forgot to mention the box is attached to the rear seat, securely really secure. like 3 seat belts u know..

that's not going to do anything. but it's your life; what's it worth to you? 20 bucks for another sheet of MDF and a few hours, or save the money and kill yourself, or someone else?

A Briefcase sitting on the back seat will break the front seat in a collision, so what do you think a sub box will do?

dongchen_han 11-11-2006 10:37 PM

What happens when a collision if the box is well placed inside the trunk?

92zed34 11-11-2006 10:54 PM

Mine stayed in the trunk lol

A Sub box shouldn't be just placed in the trunk either. It should be securred to the floor pan somehow, by either using existing mounts, or fabricating your own.. it's possible for the box to remain in the trunk, but it's more than possible for it to break through the back seats as well...

LMAO. I agree with you. Had 2 oldschool jl audios in a sealed box. Crashed my first car in freezing rain. Subs stayed put! Put them in my next car actually... Good times.

Since were on the subject i bet if hes got his seatbelts holding the box in place,i bet hes got his more secured than most hatchback stereo fanatics lol.

Anyways, dont be scared to make that seales box smaller if ya need to, sealed boxes are so much more forgiving than ported.
Chop the top,and make it a little wider and deeper, and fyi the devider in the middle, next box make it fit tight all the way around the inside to actually seal each woofer from eachother, most amps being used for subs these days are mono so i wont go there, but if one of those subs dies, and you wanna use the other by itself, you just doubled the airspace for the single woofer and it will die shortly too while sounding like poo lol
By the way you did a pretty good job on that box for a first try! You will be making them for youre friends soon too lol(seriously)

cheers
