Need help building a box??
The actual building won't be a problem, it's finding what specs I need, ie. volume. This is the sub http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/Doc/pdf_hx250d.pdf and the second page talks about enclsures, but I don't see anything about what volume they need. I'll be running 2 of these, and haven't decided if I'm gonna do sealed or ported. Not sure which will sound better, or work best ? :S
I'm going to do a simple dual box for now, and while my current stereo is out (while I'm buildign this wood box) I'm gonna lay some fiberglass and make something for next spring.
All help is greatly appreciated. I'm not a noob to car audio, just to the fabrication part, lol

Hmmm, well I'm going more for SQ because I'm running 2 of these at 1ohm, and my amp does 1000rms at 1ohm, so these should pound either way right? I also read on here someone refer to SQL, I'm guessing that is the best of both worlds to a point? So what would you recomend in terms of sealed or ported? ( i listen to rap and rock, and some alternative mainly if that helps)
In terms of space, I have a civic coupe. I have 36' between the wheel well but I need room for my snowboard which is a must, that's why IU decided to go with 10's. I would like to keep the box within 25' wide if possible. I have 16' clearance from my 6x9's, so prob 15' height, and about 25' deep (bottom), 20' deep(top) (depths are roughly). My trunk opening is fairly large to get the box inside. Hope this helps, thanks for replying so fast

you rock. I guess I'll go ported, it's what I've always had, and what I like My only prob is I don't know how to calculate, and I'm sure porter is harder to do so. This was 1 idea I had in mind, with the slot in the middle for my snowboard (excuse my "amazing" ms paint skills, haha).
My installer said it was stupid though and that he wouldn't build it. Hence why I'm doing one myself. But if a standard dual ported box will sound better, then I'll just do that instead. This was merely an idea, lol. Anyways, thanks a lot for the help Jo

well sealed is easy to build... ported boxes are harder to build properly, sealed is the easy way out the trade off is they are quiet. if you look at the second page of the PDF you linked to it has all you need to know, go down to the bottom of the page is has recommended internal volume and tuning frequency
