New at this... alpine 10" type x help

Hey there, just picked myself up a 10" alpine type x so I can start learning about box building and tuning... I already have my car wired up with 4 gauge. Im just looking for thoughts on how big of a box, and if it should be ported or sealed for this sub. thanks in advance for the help

I also just got my self a Type X. I called Alpine and they suggested a ported box size of 1.4 cubic feet with a 3.75 inch round port that is 22 inches long the frequency of the box is 35hz. Hope this helps.

Is it just me or are there a butt ton of Canucks buying Type X woofers? It just isnt that popular in the states... why I dont know... is there something about the X that makes it so Canada friendly?

If you're not in the audio scene, it's likely that you have in the past 20 years heard the name Alpine, the Type X is marketed as Alpines "BEST" subwoofer and who doesn't want the best right? Now the downside to this is that it is a very particular driver, not exactly forgiving of box design, this and the fact that it is not especially loud dB wise, leave many users wanting more volume. I've heard one and yes they are musical, but if I was only going to run one 12 inch driver, that wouldn't be it
