Hello everyone , I've spend my evening designing a subwoofer enclosure and I am now asking myself a question to which I can't seem to find the answer . On the website of the sub company , the port is located in a square box 72mm center from the back corner of the box . Now in my design I am using a slanted back side to maximize space in my trunk and since the shape of my box is different , how do I figure out where the port goes ?

have a diagram for the box? or atleast the dimensions of the box and the port size and length, slot port, square or round? number and placement of the woofers on the sides of the box

sorry for the delay guys got stuck in the hospital for a few hours today, just found out I got a broken right foot my box is for a single 12' woofer. the manufacturer box dimensions are 350mm wide , 350mm tall and 310 mm deep . the port interior diameter is 75mm and 220mm long (recommanded), its a cylinder type port and is adjustable in lenght. the port is located near the rear of the side panel 72mm distance from the back and 72mm distance from the bottom. these measurments are all interior dimensions . my box interior dimensions with the slanted back are 350mm wide , 350mm tall , 380mm deep (bottom), 240mm for the top section and 377mm for the slanted back section. my question is : is there some type of equivalent in location for the port in a slanted box design ? i hope i'm kinda clear in what i mean. thanks guys ! (hope I didnt make any mistake in calculating my box either ! I will recheck it again tomorow)

In my non expert opinion you want it basically tk be inbetween the back of your sub and the back wall, of it's too close to the wall or sub it will cause more air turbulence around the end of the port, but that might not even be a bad thing it's just what logically makes sense to me, it probably won't make that huge of a difference

"2.03 - Where should I place the port(s)?
If your system calls for the use of ports, these can be placed on any side of the enclosure, once the intended location meets the following requirements:
The exit of the port should be at least one port diameter away from any external surface.
The entrance of the port should be at least one port diameter away from any internal surface, including the driver."

so basically make sure the port is 75mm from the bottom and back of the box and that the end of the port is 75mm away from your sub on the inside of the box and you'll be good to go

Your best option is on the same side as the woofer. If you cannot do this, the second best is the side. Avoid putting it on the back, opposite the woofer.

Some consideration should be given to the vehicle as well. If you are putting this in a trunk, and the woofer faces the rear, putting it on the side or top near the front of the trunk is a bad idea. If this is going in a pickup, firing it into a corner is a good idea.

Thank you for the comment ! My car is a vw golf 4 door 2003. I'll do some measuring later today to see if the port fits on the front facade .
