proven SUV Box design Help.
 

Im looking for opinions and advice for box design for an SUV. I am hoping that your stories of what worked or didn’t work will help me to choose what type of design will work...

Topic: SUV box designs for daily driver.

The vehicle is a RAV4 and the sub design will need to be two boxes.

First box is below carpet box in the storage compartment located in the rear cargo area. The idea of this box would be for even SQ bass .This area is great for audio as its at the furthest area of the vehicle and is deep and wide. There is lots of space as the spare tire on these SUV is attached on the outside of the back door. So first box will be 2 x 10” firing up. I have and can built fibreglass boxes with MDF BAFFLE or I can build straight up MDF. Box size would be around 2.0-cf aprox. The subs would be hidden and allow the full use of the cargo area above the carpet in the rear of the SUV. This box would be permanent nd not designed to be removed easily as amps and power DIST would be incorporated into its design. The subs would be tuned to work in conjunction with the second box below with EQ, X/Over.

Second box would be on top of the carpet in the cargo area. This box would be used to push the system into a more ground pounder. This box will be able to be easily taken out when the cargo area is needed. When the cargo area is not needed I want a box that will take the bass output over the top as it will be in addition to box #1 under the carpet. I am considering 2 x 12” in a rear firing sealed or possibly ported depending on B-Volume. This box would be wired in parallel with box #1 under the carpet in the storage area. So #2 box would serve a number of purposes such as ,1/ Loading the amp down to 2 ohms for more output, 2/ increase transient bass in the lowest range 25-50. 3/ allow the cargo area to be used by quickly removal of box. The subs would be tuned to work in conjunction with the first box above WITH eq /xOVER and potentially port tuning if its a reflex design . Ported designs would need to be reasonable box volume as I am not looking for a Wall...


-So I need the communities stories about SUV boxes that worked.

-I would like to hear what drivers people like and size.
box #1 :Im thinking dual 10” sealed
box #2 : dual 12” but Im also open to more option with this box as long as the Box Vol is reasonable such as 3 cubes. So maybe a single 15” or 4 x 10” or what ever you can imagine.

4 - 12's my old set up in an explorer. 155db with a couple of 2000 watt amps.

5 cubes 10" diameter aero port roughly 12" long.. Not very musical but did great numbers around 50hz
