Hi, i need some help from the experts...i have a sealed box in my civc coupe. Its pretty much as large as it can be made,and still fit, and it was used for 2 L7 15's. I have decided to go one 06 re xxx 12", instead of the 2 15's. And i would like to make the box ported.

Id like 2 slot ports on either side of the 12 in the middle of the box, or one large port at the bottom of hte box below the 12.
My question is, with he picture i have posted is there a box generator where u could input the measurements to find out what is the cubic volume of the box is? and how much port area would i need and how to route the port??

Its built out of 3/4" and braced, i would remove the center brace for the one 12 in the middle.

that box is roughly 5.3 cf. next time you should include the degree of the angles, it makes it a bit easier to figure out. i would place the sub on one side of the box kind the pice in the middle for braceing ( running from the front baffel to the back of the box )and then do a removable round or square port on the other side that way you could change the tuneing when ever you wanted.


to find the cf. of a box of this shape. i take the side of the box calculate the area and then multiply it by the width of the box then divide by 1728 to get cf.

and then take:
266.37 * (36-1.5)=
266.37*34.5=
9189.77/1728 (answer in cf.)=
5.3cf

Ok great, thanks alot. I tried to get the angels mentioned, but without taking the box out of my trunk(and its not easy to take out...lol) i couldnt get a protractor in there to find them.

As for putting the sub to one side, thats how i was going to have it. But i think it would look better in the middle. I have the sub facing forward with no back seats. And the entire rear will be fiber glassed in everntually for show. So i think in the middle with one large rectangle port along the bottom would look best? Now as for port size, how do i go about finding port area needed in order to acheive the correct freq? I dont have the specifics for the sub yet, and i cant find any online for an 06 re xxx 12" so i dont know the displacement or reccomended volumes or any thing else i might need?

I could build a new box, but i want to keep the same shape regardless, and i cant go much if any bigger in my trunk. I just want to go ported. Is there any box building programs that let you build an odd shape ported enclousure? Bassically i want to know ho wmuch port area i need to acheive the desired freq.

boombox where are you located? i would pay somone to build a ported box and still keep the same shape.

If you're still looking for specs, this page should help. There's nothing about recommended volume, but browse this official RE forum a bit and I'm sure you'll find some suggestions.
