simple questions, where to put subs?

Im building a basic L port box with re audio's calculator for 2 subs. Should I place the subs apart, close together near port or together far from port? and is there an advantage to putting to port in the middle? is there any advantage having the subs up port back? I have only built box's for one sub. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Try pointing everything the same way. Having the subs together is an easier box to make. Having the port in the middle might restrict airflow if you don't put a spacer in it, just cuz air will be hitting itself. Try to space them evenly, around 1" from the outside diameteres.

Ok thanks, sub and port will be the same direction with a square port on one side. My main question is "Should I place the subs apart, close together near port or together far from port?" because its a wide box, deep and not very tall.

i made mine with subs at opp end of port, mostly because ive heard that you shouldnt put sub directly over the inside of the port, mine wrapped about 8" inside the back of the box. Worked out well and sounded great.

I usually put the sub at the opposite end of the port. Where should I put the second sub close the port or together with the other sub?

The second port length on RE's calculator is screwy, try not to use one, keep the value 0. Space them evenly so the air in the box is displaced evenly and you'll have a sturdier box. For instance 2 subs with outside diameters of 12.5" I'd make 16.5" high, with 1" MDF, with 5" port width, 12.5*2 + 5 (3" spacing, 2" MDF) + 5 port width + 1" MDF port wall = 36", for 2.25 cubes per, port area 14.5 x 5 = 72.5, 4.5 cubes * 16 = 72 square inches, a little over 16 per so do a decimal if you don't want to go over 16.

Furthest from the port is usually best.
