Speaker Mounts Ideas

I have a 91 chevy silverado ext cab and i want to add a extra pair of speakers in the back. i wanted to mount them in the top corners. im just not sure how to proceed. what should i use? any ideas would be great.

What kind of installation do you want? A quality one, or just a "it'll do" installation? If you just want it to work and be done with it, build a box to enclose the speaker and just bolt it to where you'd like. If you want it to be more quality than that, make a fibreglass enclosure with wooden dowels, hot glue, a speaker MDF ring, T-shirt, fibreglass resin, and fibreglass sheets. Just know that it's a lot of work.

fiberglass mount

im good with doing the work i just want a nice finished product that has a smooth professional finish to it. that sounds like a good idea, usuing fiberglass mat to make a mount that can be molded whatever way i want. my only question is what would i use to blend it in with the interior of my truck and how should i attach the mount to the corner? thank you for the response.

No problem, I like to help people out. I'd recommend reupholstering your headliner, if that's where you'd put the speakers in.

well thank you for the help, that sounds like a good idea. and not to complicated at all. ill just have to start searching for a new headliner haha. thanks again

Good idea. Probably find one really cheap at the junkyard. The only thing I'd be concerned about the headliner idea is the rigidity of the headliner itself holding the weight, but I guess the fibreglass would aid in the structure.

well what my plan is to mount it in the corner so that it faces the passenger seat and vise versa so it would be attached to the vinyl that runs down the corner as well. i think that should be strong enough, there only 5's or or 5" 1/2s i cant remember.
