I'm going for sure. If I drive, pretty sure I'll have one passenger but may be able to take two more people, possibly three if Bruno doesn't go.

It would be good to know who's going down, if your planning on driving because you are competing or if your driving but not competing or if you're wanting to go but need a ride.

From there ............ HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS.

Moe Sab 09-03-2003 06:08 AM

Possibles...

Fabian Theriault (Sudbury - competing)

Others I'm aware of...
Chris Barclay (competing)
Jeff Howell (competing - Jeff I hope I remembered your last name right!)
Team Autossey by Crankin' Street Sounds - Jim & Rob (competing)
Rina & Rob Beckham (competing)
Marc Turner (competing)

23 names in all, that I can think of... I hope I didn't miss anybody. The only person I'm not certain of is Michael Brandt. I haven't heard from him in a while and I'm not sure if he's going and competing or not. However, if he is going, we should suck up to him to make the hotel arrangements, he's great at getting amazing deals on rooms. All of my team members are for sure going.

I will be booking hotel rooms very soon if we don't hear from Mike. Once I do I'll let you know what hotel we booked our rooms with and I'll try to book a couple extra for last minute Finals goers.

Team Shadow 09-03-2003 06:35 AM

Moe, Pat here, we might be going down too. we seem to be making plans for it and an act of god will keep us away. i will call you soon to try to make arrangements to stay in the same hotel as you but we might have to sleep wherevers depending on what kind of budget we come up with. i really want to see that little ol' spl monster you have. pictures don't do it justice. see you there.

TomK 09-03-2003 06:52 AM

It would be nice to have us all in the same hotel again............ so please everyone keep us up to date with your arrangements.

Thanks for the list Moe. Was worried that we were going to be out-numbered by those damn western Canadian back woods dwellers !!!! :D

Looks like we can now out flank the Yanks from the East and West now................ With all the Cannucks heading down, maybe IASCA finals may someday be held in Canada for a change !!!! yeeeeeah rite !!!

NTOXKTD 09-03-2003 07:13 AM

i know a perfect motel hotel one exit out of downtown. $30 a night. Stayed there two years in a row for the DB Drag finals.

Father Yuli 09-03-2003 10:04 AM

u guys can count me RIGHT OUT, i will NOT be anywhere near finals. lol

TomK 09-03-2003 11:40 AM

Ramlbs 09-03-2003 02:29 PM

Mike is going Moe.....

Moe Sab 09-03-2003 04:23 PM

That's awesome news about Mike !!

I can't wait to meet all our western Canadian brothers Let's show our friends in the U.S. what kind of power we have; from coast to coast !!!

NEWS FLASH TO ALL CANADIAN COMPETITORS..........

I spoke with Paul Papadeas, president of IASCA, this week and he is in awe of the support he has received from us. He wants me to convey to you all the thanks and gratitude he has for all his Canadian members and looks forward to meeting as many of you as he can at the Finals. He also said he has never seen so much heart and pride from an IASCA affiliate country ever and is amazed by the support and pride we have towards IASCA and wishes everyone a safe journey to Memphis and best of luck!

Father Yuli 09-03-2003 10:58 PM

all that thanks for me??? and i have never attended single iasca show.

Moe tell that dude to have more shows here.

Moe Sab 09-04-2003 07:05 AM

Yes you did Yuli, you were at North of the Border Bash...

Have more shows ?!?! There was an IASCA event almost every weekend in Ontario through this season... from May to now. Hell, there were as many IASCA events this year as there were dB Drag events.

Wait until next year ;) ...

Richard could you maybe let me know about this hotel.. I'm doing some number crunching to see if I'll be able to afford to go for sure..

TomK 09-04-2003 08:19 AM

Yuli, you should come down just to hang out.......... catch a ride with someone and pitch in on gas instead of driving. It's a great event..................

Father Yuli 09-04-2003 08:59 AM

i'd go but i will probablay sleep in

NTOXKTD 09-04-2003 09:36 AM

yeah man thats why i need to figure out pricing to make sure i can afford it..

TomK 09-04-2003 12:51 PM

Those of us not competing.......... always sleep in. Then we head down to the local breakfast buffet in our fuzzy slippers and jammies and feed like cows. So that's no excuse not to show.

NTOXKTD 09-04-2003 04:48 PM

The rooms have 2 double beds and they 33 dollars a night. Split that 4 ways and you have $8.25 a night.

wired_4_sound 09-04-2003 05:18 PM

Tom
These people that have never gone to finals have no idea what there missing.Driving 20 hours with no sleep because someone thought it would be a great idea to drive all the way nonstop just so we could have breakfest at international house of pancakes. But after getting there was so tired I don't remember what i ate. Then being like four hours to early to check in to our rooms. so now having to walk around like a zombie and smelling like one after twenty hours in a car. Then to top it all off finding out our hotel is a mobile crack house where the local police told us we should not stay.So pack our belongings and move to another hotel thanks to the advice from some fellow canadians.thirty hours later, good diner and a clean shower and room the fun starts.
man oh man !!!!!
what fond memories of finals.
I just can't wait for October to do it all again

Is it a decent place to stay, or are there ****roaches?

TomK 09-05-2003 06:20 AM

Yeah, try being 6'5", an old man (but not as old as Moe) and sitting in the back seat of an extended cab pickup (NOT CREW CAB either) for that nice long overnite drive. No chance of getting any shut eye.............. then get to drive the early morning deadman's shift in sh!t weather with gawd dam dead deers flying everywhere and a car full of concrete or some sh!t on a trailer behind you. :D

Regardless, this old phuk loved every minute of it................ and wouldn't have traded the experience for anything.

Dave MacKinnon 09-05-2003 01:34 PM

If you can beieve it, you can add me to the list of maybes for the Finals.

Once you guys firm up your plans, let me know. Might be fun to cover the trip down in the mag.

Also, anyone going, that is planning on staying down there for the dB Drag finals?

Icon 09-05-2003 02:24 PM

Loud Brown Kicker colt will be there, I might stick around for kicks as well.

It will be good you see you dave, We should chat

Chillin' in the woodwork 09-05-2003 11:08 PM

Rob V.O is one deticated MOFO!!!
He's at practically every comp. he hears about.
Kudos ROB!

Dave MacKinnon 09-06-2003 08:46 PM

Richard: Those scary honking motels we were staying at where in Nashville, these guys are talking about the IASCA finals the weekend before in Memphis. I think it's 3 or 4 hours between the two..

NTOXKTD 09-08-2003 02:02 AM

oh oops. what the the hell do I know?

TomK 09-08-2003 05:45 AM

Dave, if you want to only hit the IASCA finals and don't wanna drive, you're more then welcome to fly down with me...... assuming that I'm driving and the truck hasn't been filled........ but I'm not doing the Db Drags. Drop me an email if you want to talk about this. Expenses are being allocated and broken up by body weight.................. and I've been on Jenny Craig all year............ or was that the see-food diet.......... damn, can't remember

Dave MacKinnon 09-08-2003 07:29 PM

We talked about it at the office today, and it looks indeed like I am going to fly to Memphis, as I have to be home and back for Nashville the next weekend.. Let me know what your flight info is and we'll hook up... That'd be a blast..

As for travelling by weight.. In the past 3 months I went from 265 to 232 pounds in preparation for my wedding.. Atkins diet and a new mountain bike did it for me... Haven't felt this good in a while...

Fire me a message at the office..

dmac at pasmag.com

Moe Sab 09-09-2003 01:55 PM

Dave, congrats on your wedding ! When's the big day ?

Man, it's too bad you can't make the drive down with us, that would be way cool. Of course, flying is a "bit" quicker...

Team Canada will be in full force at this year's IASCA Finals, especially now that our friends from the west coast are joining the party ! We should plan an evening with Team Canada and PASMAG for a little photo op and or article, that would rock !!!

I look forward to seeing you soon, and once again, congratulations !

Moe Sab 09-09-2003 02:06 PM

I just read the first page of the thread since last week... yeah, that was an awesome trip last year, wasn't it ?

All kidding aside, except for the hotel and the lack of sleep, it was an amazing experience. Once we got in the other hotel, things went rather smoothly and I can't agree with you guys enough, it was worth every second!

For those of you who have never been to the Finals, I can't begin to tell you what it's like... you have to experience it for yourself. But rest assured, you're gonna love it !!!!
