1 - Recomend a box builder 2-decent price on carpet is??
1)
I'm looking for a sealed enclosure for two 10" type Rs. All the advice from this and other forums has led me to conclude that given my like of clarity v. waking the neighbors and muddy bass sound; I'd be happy with a sealed box giving .8 cubes of space per sub.
BTW, thanks to the many opinions already given on this install. . .
Yeah, I know, it's a sealed box, you could just build it. Here's the thing -- I'm just really tight on time, and between figuring out WinisD, then building it, I'm talking yet another weekend.
Problem: no consistent answers or pricing out there. A dude out in Markham (Alpine dealer) would build me one with 5/8" MDF, braced & carpeted for $125. No double baffle, though.
A dude northeast (not an Alpine dealer) says that he doesn't recommend sealed for a type R. But will build me the sealed box, using 3/4" MDF, carpeted without a double baffle for $275-300.
Can anyone recommend some shop or a dude working out of his house who wants to deal on the side who can help? Who also knows the sub I'm using and can build me a box considering its specs for a fair, decent price?
2)
I'm currently glassing my amp rack. Hopefully that'll work out okay. I've decided after advice from this forum (again, thanks) to carpet it. Now I've got to get carpet. Stopped at a shop today who priced it at $50 for a 4' x 3' sheet.
Is that the average 'going price' for this stuff?
Is there a source anyone can recommend for cheaper?
Thanks!

Guy A sounds inexpensive for box. I'd still use 3/4" and a double baffle isn't really needed IMO because the face of the box will only be inches larger than the sub.
Guy B sounds overpriced.
Ask them about prefab boxes. Most smaller sealed are between .75-1cu/ft. You may find one that fits the bill.
We charge about $10-$15 per linear foot for different carpets. Rolls are 3 or 4 feet wide, so we're a little under par compared to carpet guy. You can also check fabric shops or automotive interior shops.

Where are you located? There are $50 - $100 prefab sealed carpeted boxes in a few different shapes. Carpet 4' x 6' should be $20.
For $200 - $300 you can have a fiber-box made.
And, I listen to the bassiest music and a sealed box just doesnt do it for me.
