10, 12, or 15?
I dont know what to think, I have only had a 8" and 12" subs in my car. I liked the 12 better. Howerver I sold a 15" clarion to a friend and I regret selling it to him because it was awsome. I guess it dosnt really matter now anyway, my 12's and my friends 15' all got stolen withing 2 weeks of putting them in our vehicles.

My favourite size is dependant on how the woofer sounds? I've heard 15s that were tighter than 8s and tens that played deeper than 12s.
I listen to the woofers before buying, though, I do have somewhat of a 'convenient' situation in that regard...

I have to disagree with you people that think that the size of the sub will not affect transient response .
When you think about it, why have home speaker manufacturers opted for multiple small woofers as opposed to larger ones? No, not for a smaller footprint because of the "Wife factor".

6's are used for midbass because of their transient response characteristics allowing greater accuracy, multiple speaker cabinets that incorporate a passive 10-12 such as the Mordaunt-Short, or Definitive Technology are just such examples.
Because a sub needs to operate at lower frequencies, it's mass must be greater, along with rigidity, all that combined with a larger voice-coil adds to the total mass, which requeirs a stiffer suspension typically than a smaller driver. therefore it's transient response will suffer in comparison to a smaller driver designed for the same purpose.
Im with DW on this.. there are 6" speakers that can handle sub bass, and 18" that can handle even midrange..
Transient response depends soly on the application/installation of a speaker... not its suspension or t/s params... (although these effect the application/installation the speakers can be used in
