2 10's or 1 15

hey guys . I come to you in need of help . Currently my system is 2 MTX RT 10's
with 300 rms going to them . I am wanting more output so i was thinking of either porting the 10's or buying a single 15. I'm looking for SQ so thats why i was leaning towards the 15 . Any input or criticism is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Personally, I'd look into a Mach 5 Audio 15" sub. They are cheap, and are actually better than amazing subs. I am running 4 of them and I couldn't be happier...

That's what i was thinking . Would the 15 be fine with only 300 RMS ? How is the SQ with the MAW15 ? I've heard good things but just want some other opinions about it.

Rebuild the box for the 10's.

FusionMadsen 06-18-2007 07:24 PM

I wouldn't cheap out, give that thing like 700-800w.

MR2NR - what exactly would rebuilding the box do for me .. like rebuilding it to ported or just buy new and build a new sealed?

FusionMadsen - I thought they were only good for upto 500 rms . Well i dont really want to spend more than I can get for selling my current system.

No, they RMS at 500, meaning its recommended you give them 500. I'm giving mine 600w and they are fine, anything up to 900w should be fine.

If more output is what you want, then forget sealing anything altogether.... ever. Try porting your 10s and see what happens. If you're still not happy, try upgrading to a nice 15" and port that thing.

If you are looking for SQ, a single large driver moving lots of air with a low frequency is not the way to go. Keep in mind that the jump to your next largest speaker (perhaps a 6x9" or 6.5") is that much larger again. If SQ is the goal, the 15" is not the best option. Bass response is all about the proper match of box to sub to amp, concentrate on the box as that is the only variable that can now change.

well I've heard these subs ported and they sound like ass . And the box is built to spec for these woofers. I'm not looking to win an SQ show or anything . Just want some more output but keeping it controlled so I can still hear the music. Just figured a MAW-15 would give me that little extra bump but still keep it controlled so it sounds good .
